Diagnostic Receptive Expressive Assessment of Mandarin-Infant and Toddler

OVERVIEW
DREAM-IT is an assessment tool designed to comprehensively evaluate the language and communication abilities of infants and toddlers. It assists clinical professionals in detailed analysis and judgment of children's developmental progress and characteristics in language and communication. Powered by AI technology
The DREAM-IT assessment is administered through a parent questionnaire, featuring comprehensive and detailed questions, along with rich examples to assist parents in understanding and participating in the assessment. The items cover four major domains of early language and communication development: language comprehension, language expression, social communication, and cognitive play.

Assessed Domains
- A child's ability to understand language, which forms the foundation for language expression
- A child's motivation and ability to communicate and interact with others (e.g., eye contact, turn-taking, joint attention)
- A child's ability to use language to express their needs, thoughts, and experiences
- A child's ability to explore the world and learn through play (highly related to language development)

Reliability and Validity
DREAM-IT meets international standards for reliability and validity. In 2003, research on the reliability and clinical application of DREAM-IT was published in International Journal of Language and Communication Disorders. The findings indicated that the internal consistency reliability across the four domains—language comprehension, language expression, social communication, and cognitive play—meets international standards. Longitudinal cohort tracking showed that regardless of whether infants were aged 0–18 months or 18–36 months, the abilities reflected by DREAM-IT could effectively predict their language communication abilities at the next developmental stage.
